Absolutely loved my visit to the Severn Valley Railway unfortunately nothing was happening when I went but they do have plenty of events year round you can see a few engines on the platforms so still plenty of opportunities to take some photographs I would highly recommend a visit :)

Due to a landslide, trains are only running from Kidderminster to Hampton Load. However, at Bridgnorth you can ride on the footplate of a steam locomotive for £20 (10 minutes). It's well worth the money. All facilities were open at Bridgnorth station and the bacon sandwich at the cafe are excellent.

What a great experience, beautiful countryside everywhere, in our beautiful county of Worcestershire. We took the kids there when they were little, did up the trains as Thomas the tank engine at Christmas time. I love the old deisels, from my time as a child, but also travelling throughout India, where they sit on the roofs and hang out from the doorways. All round grest fun day out!

Used to go to the Severn valley Christmas steam train events from Kidderminster and it was excellent. Now it's been switched to bridgenorth it's not the same
In fact it's no where near the same. This event needs changing back to start from Kidderminster. Would like to know why they have changed to bridgenorth. Will not return until they do.

Great attraction to visit, something for everyone, great value if you take a ride on a train. Plenty of stations on route to visit.

Had an amazing experience on Sunday on the enchanted express :) seeing my son meet Santa literally made me cry with happiness. SVR definitely made our Christmas!
Side note though, the hill to and from the carpark was awfully steep. With one adult with a broken knee and another with severe back problems, it was very difficult to get up and down. There is a blue badge car park station level but that didn't apply to us. Please be warned and be careful as the part of the path that takes you from flat level to the hill is extremely steep. Very dangerous or older people, younger kids and anyone with any issues that don't qualify for blue badge permits.
